MAPP Meet Up Day: MUD!

The International Day of Happiness is celebrated worldwide on March 20. Inspired by this one-day global event, the MAPPAA community has a tradition of hosting annual MUD gatherings on a single day in spring. Traditionally these events have been co-created by MAPP alum who live in the same geographic region. Community members work together to set a time and location to share space during this day of MAPPiness.

As our MAPPAA family expands, the tradition has shifted to become more accessible and inclusive. For example, MUD is no longer a single day in the year when we gather. In 2024, hosts shared their event details with the entire community in order to invite everyone to each event no matter the location. Now we are shifting the MUD tradition to be more accessible and inclusive. MAPPAA hosted its first Virtual MUD Marathon* in March 2025, in response to our membership diversity in geography, time zones, schedules, and resourcedness. Currently, we are piloting use of the mappalum.org forum feature to experiment with collectively planning in-person or virtual gatherings for member-planned MUD events in May*! Anyone can propose, co-create, and attend these May MUD events!

*Note that you must be a MAPP grad and log into the website in order to access information about the March 2025 Virtual MUD or the May 2025 community-created MUD Events.
