Bio
Cecilie Kran Løvestam is a positive psychology practitioner based in New York City, currently pursuing the Master of Applied Positive Psychology (MAPP) at the University of Pennsylvania. She is an instructor assistant for New York University’s (NYU) positive psychology class 'The Science of Happiness,' which is the university’s largest and most popular elective. In this role, she teaches undergraduate students about positive psychology and well-being theory, research and practice, and facilitates class discussions. She also guides them through evidence-based positive interventions on a weekly basis.
Originally from Norway, Cecilie moved to New York City to attend NYU in 2013, where she earned her B.Sc. in Applied Psychology with cum laude Latin honors. Cecilie’s work experience includes working in HR at the Norwegian tech company Opera Software, clinical case management serving NYC’s homeless population for the NGO Samaritan Daytop Village, event management for the NGO F.I.T. 4 All, and psychology research at NYU’s Mindfulness and Education Laboratory. Cecilie is also a certified yoga instructor and she has also volunteered as a yoga teacher for the organization ‘Exhale to Inhale’ which provides trauma-informed yoga classes to survivors of domestic violence and sexual abuse. In her free time, Cecilie enjoys skiing, hiking, yoga (both practicing and teaching), and traveling.
Upon completing her masters in August 2019, Cecilie aspires to apply her expertise in positive psychology on individual- and organizational level by teaching well-being skills, growing strengths and resilience, changing mindsets, and cultivating self-compassion to support people in living a flourishing and meaningful life.
