| The United Nation's International Day of Happiness is celebrated worldwide on March 20. This is also the date on which the UN releases its annual World Happiness Report. Here is a link to the UN's Internal Day of Happiness page, and here is a link to the 2025 World Happiness Report. It's all about others: sharing with others, living with others, connecting with others, supporting and trusting and giving to others...but we already know that "other people matter"! Inspired by this global event, the MAPP Alum community has a tradition of hosting annual Meet Up Day ("MUD") gatherings on a single day every spring. Traditionally these events have been co-created by MAPP alum who live in the same geographic region. Community members set times and places to celebrate happiness and MAPPiness. |
As our MAPP Alum family expands, the tradition has shifted to become more accessible and inclusive. In 2024, hosts shared event details with the entire community in order to invite everyone to each event no matter the location. In 2025, MAPP Alum hosted its first Virtual MUD Marathon* in response to our membership diversity in geography, time zones, schedules, and resourcedness. We also piloted use of the mappalum.org forum feature to experiment with collectively planning in-person or virtual gatherings for member-planned MUD events in May*! Anyone in our community was able to use the forum feature to propose, co-create, and attend the in-person events.
