Dr. Sullivan is a full teaching professor and director of the Positive Coaching graduate program at the University of Missouri in Columbia, MO. The degree program focuses on identifying and applying the most pertinent and impactful aspects of sport, coaching and positive psychology. Students also focus on leading individuals, teams and groups to experience the fulfillment and happiness associated with striving for and achieving excellence. Emphasis is on the understanding, skills and strategies of highly effective teaching, learning and leading. He comes to Missouri from Ohio University where he was an associate professor and program director of the Professional Masters in Sport Administration program. Prior to his appointment at Ohio University, Dr. Sullivan was a tenured Associate Professor at Otterbein University where he was recognized as Teacher of the Year. Prior to his career in academia, Dr. Sullivan enjoyed a successful two-decade career in the commodity markets in trading (Engelhard Metals, Citibank, and Deutsche Bank), marketing (Prudential Securities), and investment banking (Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein). He holds a PhD in Sport Management from The Ohio State University, an MBA in Sport Management from Seton Hall University's Stillman School of Business, and recently completed a second Master’s degree in Applied Positive Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania.
