Bio
Shondrea McCargo is passionate about creating bridges to well-being for diverse communities. Shondrea hails from Baltimore, Maryland, and has taught in public schools for seven years. She has delivered instruction in many capacities, but most devotedly within urban settings, to high-risk students with complex emotional and educational needs. Her teaching strategies focus on developing psychologically safe learning environments so that students can thrive academically.
Shondrea is the recipient of a Fulbright grant to Malaysia, in which she served as an English teacher and informal ambassador of the United States of America. She was selected shortly after by the Fulbright Commission and the Institute for International Education (IIE) as an official ambassador for the Fulbright Program, a role in which she spotlights the importance of diversity and recruits future Fulbright candidates. Shondrea is also an AI for MAPP 600.
Shondrea spends her free time enjoying the literary and performing arts, working on her first book, and learning about the aviation industry with aspirations of earning her pilot’s license.
