Dr. Elaine O'Brien MAPP, 2008 and PhD, 2015 is a Positive Project Manager, Positive Psychology, Performance, and Fitness Educator, Writer and Professional Speaker and Designer. Elaine has taught courses for Temple University, University of Penn, University of the Sciences, Point Loma University, and Brookdale Community College.
A webinar, workshop and symposium presenter, Elaine speaks on on topics including Positive Health, Joy in Medicine, Positive Emotion And Meaning in Motion, Training the Trainer, the Power of Gratitude, Mind, Body and Soul Fitness and Positive Aging for the American Psychological Association, European Conferences on Positive Psychology, IPPA, Canada Positive Psychology Assocation, CAPP, China Positive Psychology Conferences, and for University of Lisbon, Portugal MAPP.
Elaine has also presented for the Wholebeing Institute, Dr. Michelle McQuaid, and appeared Dr. Tal Ben Shahar’s “Happier TV” show. Elaine hosted a cable television show, “Fitness with Elaine.”
A leader of IPPA's Positive Health and Wellness Division, Elaine is host of the IPPA PH&W Webinar Series and an Associate Editor of the The IPPA Chronicle of Positive Health and Wellness.
Elaine continues to build positive communities through her award winning Dance/Fitness training program. In 1991, Elaine was invited by the State of New Jersey to create an intervention to reduce alcoholism and drug abuse. This program, still in force, raises up Social Fitness, Well-Being Connections, and Positive Determination among its participants. Further, qualitative research has determined there is a “legacy effect” that has transferred across generations.
