Unlocking student potential: How PERMA can boost academic achievement
The following is a book proposal showing how positive psychology can contribute to academic achievement for students in every part of the academic bell curve. The capstone explains how the recently developed theory of flourishing created by positive psychology founder Martin Seligman relates to academic achievement. It will show how the 5 letters of PERMA can boost the 3 R’s of reading, writing, and arithmetic. My aim is to help bridge the gap between what actually goes on in the classroom and what has been researched. I hope to show what positive psychology says about my success in teaching as well as show what my teaching says about positive psychology.
