Bio
Since graduating from MAPP in 2012, Dan has taught New York University’s most popular elective course, The Science of Happiness to over 12,000 students. He recently joined the faculty of NYU’s Stern School of Business, focusing on well-being in highly competitive environments. This fall, Dan partnered with Jonathan Haidt to co-design and deliver Thrive@Stern: The Art and Science of Work-Life Excellence, a research-based curriculum required for all Stern undergraduates.
Dan has delivered keynotes and/or served as a consultant for over 150 organizations, including Deutsche Bank, Oppenheimer Funds, UBS Switzerland, Google, IBM, the U.S. Army, and the Metropolitan Opera. He has been a guest lecturer at more than a dozen universities and music conservatories. For nearly a decade, Dan has spent a week each year lecturing at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
Dan co-authored the book U Thrive: How to Succeed in College (and Life) and is currently working on a second book for the Penguin/Portfolio imprint. His co-authored chapter (alongside UNC colleagues Dr. Erianne Weight and Dr. Jeff Green) on expertise curriculum will be included in the upcoming Cambridge Handbook of Expertise and Expert Performance.
