Students of the positive sciences desire to apply their knowledge and make the world a better place. Doing so is surprising difficult. Relationships, teams, organizations and communities are governed by conventional cultures. The findings of the positive sciences represent a nonconventional perspective.
Application requires more than expertise. It requires the ability to use transformative influence and stimulate deep change. In this presentation I will draw from two new books to show how we can all be more effective. I will also focus on two tools, one that turns conventional people into leaders and another that turns conventional organizations into positive organizations.

Robert Quinn is the Margaret Elliott Tracy Collegiate Professor in Business Administration and Professor of Management and Organizations at the University of Michigan. Professor Quinn is particularly interested in issues concerning leadership, vision and change. He has an applied orientation and has 25 years of experience in working with executives on issues of organizational change. He has been involved in the design and execution of numerous large-scale change projects. He has worked with a large percentage of the Fortune 500 companies.
Dr. Quinn teaches in both the MBA and Executive Education Programs at the University of Michigan and is known for innovative instructional efforts. Professor Quinn is also a fellow of the World Business Academy.He has a new book coming out shortly
